LIFE Work Programme 2018-2020 05/03/2019

The current phase of the LIFE programme (2018-2020) continues to co-finance nature conservation, environmental and climate action projects.  The LIFE Multiannual Work Programme 2018-2020 (MAWP 2018-2020) sets out the general objectives of the LIFE programme, the types of projects aimed for and the associated budgets. €1.2 billion is allocated for nature conservation and environmental protection, and a further €413.25 million for climate action for the making of grant awards

Calls for Proposals are issued for each of the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 in which the EU Commission invites applicants to submit proposals for LIFE Action Grant awards. The eligibility criteria for the different project types are detailed in the MAWP 2018-2020 and the application guidelines published alongside each call.

In a bid to simplify the application procedure, the Work Programme sets out a new two-stage submission for projects under the Environment sub-programme. Applicants present a shortened version of their application in an 11-page Concept Note and, if accepted, this is followed by the submission of a full proposal. This means applicants receive feedback on whether their projects stand a good chance of success before the bulk of the work is needed on writing a full proposal.
